Description
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Painted Pan Background (Walt Disney, 1937). Original hand-painted pan pre-production background of the interior of the seven dwarfs' cottage. It's an amazing painting from the hand of Samuel Armstrong (1893-1976), who was a background painter for this film, as well as The Old Mill. He also was a sequence director on Fantasia, Bambi, and Dumbo, and a long-time illustrator of children's books for Whitman's Little Golden Book series during the 1940s and '50s. This amazing hand-painted background is 33" x 9.5". It is stamped on the left border "Sept. 8 1937". Initials "S. A." are also on the border. On the reverse of the background is written "5B Sc. 21". This scene can be found at around the 42:08 mark in the "let me see your hands" scene with Snow White and the dwarfs before dinner. The background is marked in center of the lower border "Start Sc. 21". This is a very rare piece of Snow White and Walt Disney Studio history. New to market. Light handling and edge wear, with staples in bottom corners, otherwise Fine condition.Auction Info
