Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy Pan Production Background (Max Fleischer, 1941). "I'm sorry, but these two dolls must be sold together, $1.00 for the pair" says the shopkeeper to the little girl who wants to buy just Raggedy Ann. He sits down and tells her a story. He says,"Now it happened a long time ago...". His story takes viewers back to a place called "Ragland." This is the opening hand-painted pan production background of Ragland. It can be seen at the 3:03 mark, and stays on screen to about 3:11. Stunning piece of artwork from this two-reel short directed by Dave Fleischer and produced by Max Fleischer. It has animation by Joe Oriolo and Myron Waldman, and was released on 4/11/41. The background is a painting of "Linen Lane" and displays the "Worsted Union" house. The street is made of a quilt. Artwork for this cartoon is considered very rare. The background is in an open-front frame measuring 29" x 20" with a mat opening of 23" x 12". Frame is sold as-is and has no glass or Plexiglas. Artwork condition is Very Good.
