    Description

    Peter Pan Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Peter Pan Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1953). Peter Pan was the 14th animated feature film from Walt Disney Pictures. The film was the last to be released by RKO Pictures on 2/5/53. Future Disney films would be distributed by Walt's new distribution company, Buena Vista. Peter Pan is also the final Disney film in which all members of "Walt's Nine Old Men" worked together as directing animators. The piece offered in this lot is a terrific setup featuring Mr. Smee, Captain Hook and our hero, Peter Pan. Each character is trimmed to image and affixed to a clear sheet of acetate and paired with a Master background painting of the Jolly Roger from sequence 04, scenes; 6, 8, and 7.8. The background measures 26" x 12" with an image area of 21.25" x 11.25". A gorgeous painting from the background team of Ralph Hulett, Ray Huffine, Art Riley, Thelma Witmer, Al Dempster, Dick Anthony, Eyvind Earle, Brice Mack, and Art Landy. Peter Pan is considered to be one of the most commercial Disney movies to date, having a theatrical sequel and five Tinker Bell spin-off films. Tinker Bell has become a Disney icon of sorts. A great acquisition opportunity as Master backgrounds from this film are exceedingly rare. Edge wear from production use with minor repair to a tear along the bottom center of the background, easily matted over. Condition is Very Good.
