Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol Painted Production Background Key (UPA, 1962). An incredible hand-painted production background key that is mounted to a cel. This is the famous fireplace scene, the first scene, where the family is waiting for Bob Cratchit to come home with Tiny Tim. It displays Tiny Tim's stool and cane, and was painted by Jack Heiter. This background is shown on page 156 in the wonderful book by Darrell Van Citters Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol: The Making of the First Animated Christmas Special. In the future death scene, the orange cushion is gone. This is a key scene of the heart of this movie. Gouache on trimmed board, cut into an oval of approximately 3.5", mounted to a clear cel with "Seq. 3 Sc64 A1" written on the bottom of the cel. A very important piece of television history. Fine condition.
