Description

Mississippi Hare Production Background and Layout Drawing (Warner Brothers, 1949). "I'm Colonel Shuffle, the rip-roarinest, sharp-shootinest, poker-playinest gambler on the Mississippi!" This cartoon was the work of the legendary Warner Brothers Animation writer/director team Mike Maltese and Chuck Jones and it pitted Bugs Bunny against the Yosemite Sam-like character, Colonel Shuffle. It's an amazing 12 field hand-painted production background of the casino on the river boat, which can be seen at the 2:04 mark, as Bugs stands outside the entrance, dressed as a gentleman gambler. Painted by layout and background artist, Peter Alvarado in gouache on slightly trimmed 12 field 2-peghole board and the top border is marked SC 21. The painting is framed along with its matching graphite layout drawing. This one-of-a-kind pair of vintage production art pieces share a common glass-front frame measuring 22" x 28". Condition is Very Good; the frame is sold as-is.
