    Description

    Magpie Madness Painted Backgrounds Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1948). In this Eddie Donnelly-directed short, Heckle and Jeckle succeed in driving poor Dimwit Dog into the madhouse. Here are two original hand-painted production backgrounds from this short (released on 7/1/48), each on 12 field 3-top peghole light board. The first is noted as 8-44 in the upper right corner; it's the front gate to the sanitarium, seen at the 1:33 mark. This leads directly to the second painting, noted as 9-9B, showing the doctor's office as Dimwit is brought in. Great details -- check out the "dog anatomy" chart on the wall, and the human skull used as a bookend! Both backgrounds have studio stamps on each side. Very Good condition with minor edge wear.
