Love's Labor Won Painted Backgrounds Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1948). "Curses -- foiled again!" Oil Can Harry kidnaps pretty Pearl, and it's up to Mighty Mouse to rescue her, in this great old-fashioned Mannie Davis-directed cartoon. Here's a pair of original hand-painted production backgrounds from this short, which was released to theaters on 9/1/48. In the first, we see the old mill where Harry has Pearl; it can be seen at the 2:06 mark, with an added water wheel. It's noted as 15 in the upper right corner. The second piece shows a slot machine on the bank of the river; Harry will use it to get ice flows (when the spinning reels stop at three cherries). It's noted as 20, and can be seen at the 2:26 mark. Both pieces are painted in gouache on 3-peghole lightweight board, with a studio stamp on the reverse. Very Good condition with minor edge wear.
