Lady and the Tramp Background Color Key/Concept Painting by Eyvind Earle (Walt Disney, 1955). "Hey Joe! Butch-a he say he wants-a two spaghetti speciale, heavy on the meats-a ball." "Tony, dogs-a don't a-talk!" "He's a-talkin' to me!" This is the great dialogue between Tony and Joe, as they serve up the spaghetti and meatballs, for one of animation's most romantic scenes, Lady and the Tramp in Bella Notte. With Mary Blair leaving the studio, Eyvind Earle was recruited to do over 50 background Color Key paintings for this most memorable scene. He also painted backgrounds for the park scene, where they run after their dinner. An outstanding background Color Key/concept painting. Lady and Tramp are sitting at the candle-lit table with the checkered table cloth, with light coming from the open door. The night's full moon is seen high above the alley where they dine. An amazing and large painting, in gouache on board measuring 16" x 13". Eyvind Earle, a Disney Legend Inductee in 2015, hand-signed the artwork in the bottom right corner. It should be noted that the Disney Family Museum held a retrospective of Earle's work in May of 2017 titled "Awakening Beauty: The Art of Eyvind Earle." Earle's Bella Notte concept artwork is considered very rare, and this is one of the largest concept paintings from his hand that we have seen. A beautiful piece of artwork, in a Plexiglas-front frame measuring 26" x 23". Tack holes are in the artboard corners. Frame is sold as-is; artwork condition is Very Good.
