    Description

Fishing by the Sea Painted Backgrounds Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1947). Heckle and Jeckle bedevil poor fisherman Dimwit throughout this zany cartoon, directed by Connie Rasinski, and released on 9/19/47. As was the case with many 1940s Terrytoons shorts, the backgrounds were true works of art on their own. Here are two original 12 field hand-painted backgrounds from the beginning of this cartoon. First one is noted as 2-4-6, and it can be first seen at about the :19 mark; this is Heckle and Jeckle's birdhouse, and they are sweeping the front "porch" as they spy Dimwit walking by with his fishing gear. The second is noted as 7; this is the pier Dimwit walks down to cast his line. Both are painted with gouache on skimmed illustration board. Either background would look good in a number of different animation setups. Minor tape residue in the bottom corners, with minor handling and edge wear; Very Good condition.
