DescriptionEliza on the Ice Painted Backgrounds Original Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). This "politically incorrect" take on Uncle Tom's Cabin is considered by some to be the funniest of all the original Mighty Mouse cartoons. The short was directed by Connie Rasinski, and first shown in theaters on 6/16/44. Here are two original hand-painted 12 field top peghole production backgrounds from the short. The first, of a sluice directing water from a lake, can be seen online at the 1:54 mark. It's noted as Sc. 19 in the upper right. The second background is of the frozen surface of the lake, and it can be found at the Sc. 32 mark. Both are gouache paintings on skimmed illustration board. Note: the cartoon shown online is a very dark print; these paintings are much lighter and show more detail in person. They would work well with cartoon cels requiring a Winter background. Minor handling wear; Very Good condition.
