Charlie Brown for Ford Falcon TV Commercial Painted Pan Background with Charlie Brown Production Cel (Playhouse Pictures/Bill Melendez, 1960/1966). Charlie Brown and the animated Peanuts characters made their first TV appearance on Tennessee Ernie Ford's The Ford Show. They were used to promote the 1959 and 1960 model Ford Falcon. Bill Melendez produced these spots while he worked at Playhouse Pictures. Dean Spille, the great Peanuts background painter, also worked at this studio. They both began their rich history with these characters here. This is a rare pan hand-painted production background, used for a 1960 Charlie Brown and Lucy TV Commercial spot for a Ford Falcon. It was the kite-flying commercial. The pan background is an amazing 43" x 10.5". It is marked 60/307A Fence; you can see the grass up against the fence in the spot. As a bonus, a rare hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Charlie Brown from his second TV special, Charlie Brown's All Stars is on the cel. This is a superb image of Charlie Brown in his baseball cap with glove and ball, with an overall size of 5". This special premiered on 6/8/66 on CBS. This 1960s background and '60s production cel work very well with each other, making for a fun piece of Peanuts animation history. Minor handling wear. Very Good condition.
