Carmen's Veranda Painted Production Backgrounds Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). This odd Gandy Goose short effortlessly mixed stage scenes with "real" locations in presenting the opera "Carmen's Veranda." Here are two original hand-painted 12 field 3-top peghole production backgrounds from this Mannie Davis-directed short, which was released on 7/28/44. The first shows the cabin of "Tyrone" (Gandy), noted as Sc 40 in the upper right. This can be found at the 3:43 mark, as Gandy rushes to rescue Carmen. The second is a fantastic castle image, seen at the 4:04 mark, as soldiers on horseback ride out to confront Gandy. It's noted as Sc. 45. Both are marked with production number T366, painted in gouache on light board with studio stamps on the reverse. Great Terrytoons backgrounds! Minor edge wear; Fine condition.
