Beauty and the Beast Pan Production Background with Belle Presentation Cel (Walt Disney, 1991). "Well, what are we waiting for? I'll have this thing fixed in no time. Hand me da... ba... dog-legged clincher there. So did you have a good time in town today?" asks Maurice to his daughter. Belle, who is entranced in one of her favorite books, replies "I got a new book, Papa... do you think I'm odd?" This film premiered to critical acclaim in 1991. It was the first animated feature film to receive a "Best Film" nomination for the Academy Awards. It had direct-to-video sequels, a global hit Broadway play in 1994, and in 2017 a major box office live-action movie version as well. There were no hand-painted production cels used in the making of this film, but there were hand-painted production backgrounds. The backgrounds were sold with one-of-a-kind presentation cels made from animation drawings. These unique cels were placed over the backgrounds and sold at the "Art of Beauty and the Beast" Auction on October 17, 1992 at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Very few of the specially-made setups with production backgrounds come to market. This is an outstanding pan production background measuring 11.5" x 27". It has a one of one hand-painted pan cel of Maurice with Belle inside his inventor home. This was lot 27 in the famous Beauty and the Beast auction. The rare production background piece is in a glass-front frame of 37.5" x 22.5" with a mat opening of 27" x 11". A Disney Auction seal is on the cel. Belle with her signature book is a large image of 8.5". Her father's wood cutting invention is also on cel and is 10". A copy of the auction page with an image of the production pan background with no cel on it is also included. Frame is sold as-is. Artwork condition is Very Good.
