Aladdin Jafar and Aladdin Presentation Cel and Master Production Background (Walt Disney, 1992). "Part sands of time. Reveal to me the one who can enter the cave. Yes! There he is! My diamond in the rough!" says Jafar. On October 9, 1992, The Art of Aladdin Auction was held in New York City; it had approximately 260 lots of artwork from this film. With no production cels, original animation drawings were used to paint one-of-one presentation cels. These rare cels were painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department and placed on their Master original hand-painted production background. This is the only production artwork from this film ever released by The Walt Disney Company. This was a full-page highlight piece of the auction, Lot 75. Jafar has conjured up the power to find Aladdin, the "diamond in the rough" foretold by the Cave of Wonders. This is a 5-cel setup with one being a production overlay. A large cel setup of 12.5" x 17", matted with a mat opening of 17" x 12". Outstanding image of Jafar and Aladdin. This film was the box office champ in 1992 and spawned a TV series, several direct-to-video animated feature films, and a global successful Broadway play. A live action film is currently in development. A Disney seal is on the cel and Disney COA is on back of mat. Fine condition.Auction Info
