Description

Two Down and One To Go Production Background (Walt Disney, 1945). "Now that the United Nations have delivered Europe from the Nazis, two of our three enemies lie on the ruins of their own evil ambitions." At the beginning of the 1945 propaganda film Two Down and One to Go by director Frank Capra, a map of Europe is shown, demonstrating the fall of the Nazi forces by blacking out Germany, Italy and their previously occupied areas and in this lot we have the very hand-painted background featured during the film. Created at Walt Disney Productions this 16-field production background can be seen at approximately the 0:41 mark of the film that prominently featured General Marshall, Chief of Staff of the Army for both Roosevelt and Truman. Created in gouache on 16-field five-peghole background board and showing an image size of 15" x 11.25", this historically significant background shows the production note "Bg 4007 Sc 17" in the bottom right corner, as well as production stamps on the back. A small tear can be seen on the left edge of the board and tape residue is present near the top and bottom left corners. In Good to Very Good condition with normal age-related toning and light handling and edge wear from production.
