Oliver & Company Production Background (Walt Disney, 1988). Travel the streets of New York with this sensational hand-painted production background from the 1988 Disney film Oliver & Company. This adaptation of the classic novel Oliver Twist, set in modern-day New York and reimagining Oliver as a cat and Fagin's gang as dogs, was the first production from the team of Eisner and Katzenberg and featured a star-studded cast with music by top performers of the day, such as Billy Joel and Huey Lewis. Showing a corner of New York in the '80s, this 16-field production background has the urban landscape rendered in gouache and showcases an overlay cel with the linework. Perfect to complete a cel setup! Backgrounds of the film are credited to Jim Coleman, Lisa Keene, Steve Butz, Tia Kratter, Phil Phillipson, Brian Sebern, John Emerson, Andy Phillipson, and Bob Stanton. The overlay is taped to the background by the top and bottom edges. In Very Good condition with mild handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
