    Description

Orphan's Benefit Donald Duck Animation Drawings Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1934).
Orphan's Benefit was first released as a black-and-white cartoon in 1934 and was later remade in Technicolor in 1941. The cartoon features Mickey Mouse and his friends putting on a Vaudeville-style benefit show. Orphan's Benefit was the first appearance of Donald Duck in a Mickey Mouse series film, marking the characters' first joint appearance. Donald had previously appeared only in the Silly Symphony series. Many of Donald's personality traits first seen in Orphan's Benefit would become permanently associated with him, such as his love of showmanship, his fierce determination, belligerence, and most famously his easily provoked temper. A young, talented animator by the name of Ward Kimball worked as an inbetweener on Orphan's Benefit. Of course Ward would go on to become one of "Walt's Nine Old Men" and a Disney Legend inductee. The drawings in this lot are from the 1941 remake and were not used in the final version making this a very rare acquisition opportunity for any shrewd animation collector. Each piece in this sequence was rendered in graphite on 5-peghole 12 field animation paper and numbered 12, 33, 41, 42, and 45. The images of Donald measure 3" and tall. Mild age-related toning. Otherwise, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
