Description

Original multi-character watercolor painting for Leon Schlesinger's Looney Tunes. Original multi-character watercolor painting for Leon Schlesinger's Looney Tunes. (Leon Schlesinger/Warner Bros Studios, 1939) Rare watercolor, ink and gouache painting featuring a grouping of some of the lesser-known current stars from Leon Schlesinger Productions in 1939. The painting was created as a page in a one-of-a-kind pressbook used for presentation to potential licensees. Although most of the stars are long forgotten, one stands out among the group. Pictured in the top row is a gray rabbit named after director Ben "Bugs" Hardaway. "Bugs' Bunny" had only appeared in one short as a grey rabbit that we see in this painting. An incredibly rare image of a soon-to-be mega-star. Overall size 16 x 18 in.
