DescriptionMystery in the Moonlight Production Background Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1948). "Did a black cat ever cross your path? Beware -- one might!" says the narrator at the beginning of the Eddie Donnelly-directed short. This strange cartoon involves a bulldog and a mouse, who turns on the television late at night, only to see an angry black cat; soon, that very same cat arrives to cause all sorts of trouble. Here are two airbrushed gouache/watercolor production backgrounds from the short. The first is noted as 7A in the upper right; it can be seen at the 1:29 mark in online viewings, as the dog escorts the frightened mouse back to his hole. The second piece is noted as 23, and appears at the 3:24 mark; a pie sitting on the table soon winds up in the bulldog's face, courtesy of the black cat. Art is on skimmed boards, and are in Good to Very Good condition with a corner fold on the second piece, and minor handling wear on each.
