    Description

My Boy Johnny Painted Backgrounds Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). Eddie Donnelly directed this World War II propaganda short, featuring Gandy Goose as a soldier returned to civilian life, set to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home." These two hand-painted 12 field 3-peghole backgrounds are from this Academy Award-nominated short. The first is noted as Sc 1, showing the exterior of Gandy's house with the service star in the window; this is the first scene you see after the credits, at the :22 mark. The second shows a bird's-eye view of a munitions plant, noted as 19 in the upper right; it can be seen at the 2:19 mark. Lovely artwork with a WWII-theme, painted in gouache/watercolor with airbrush on skimmed boards stamped on the back as Terrytoons property. Art is in Very Good condition with minor handling/edge wear.
