Description

Mulan Presentation Cel and Master Production Background Setup (Walt Disney, 1998). Yao has dropped Mulan to the ground on this fantastic hand-painted presentation cel. This is one of only one produced! With no actual hand-painted cels produced for this feature film, items such as this are quite rare indeed. The cel is created from original animation production drawings and painted by the vaulted Disney Ink and Paint Department. It has then been placed on a hand-painted Master production background. This was Lot #79 in the "Art of Mulan" Sotheby's sale on March 6th, 1999. Plexiglas front framed to 26" x 20" with a mat opening of 16.5" x 10.5", Mulan measures 5" long while Yao is 5" tall and trying not to look guilty. Mulan was voiced by the incomparable Ming-Na Wen who plays Agent May on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There is a Disney seal on the lower right of the cel. Very few of these type of setup come to market, so don't miss out!

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
