Mr. Magoo Sketch by Stephen Bosustow (UPA, 1980). Steven Bosustow (1911 – 1981) was a Canadian-born American film producer from 1943 until his retirement in 1979. He was one of the founders of United Productions of America (UPA) and produced nearly 600 cartoon and live-action shorts. He is chiefly remembered for producing a string of Mr. Magoo and Gerald McBoing-Boing cartoons in the 1950s, three of which earned Academy Awards. He is the only film producer in history who received all the Oscar nominations in a single category (1957), guaranteeing him the winning Oscar. That winning animated short film was Magoo's Puddle Jumper. Offered here is an original hand sketch of Mr. Magoo by Stephen Busostow drawn at an ASIFA-Hollywood (The International Animated Film Society) fund raising event in 1980. It's a wonderful 6.5" x 5.5" image of Mr. Magoo's head rendered in graphite, ink and yellow chalk on 12 field sheet of ASIFA-branded animation paper. It is dedicated by Mr. Bosustow and dated 8/21/80, less than a year before his death. It's a wonderful and unique one-of-a-kind sketch by the man who brought us Mr. Magoo and so many other beloved UPA characters. Minor handling. Fold creases and edge wear; otherwise condition is Good.
