Mouse Trouble Tom and Jerry Production Cel and Background (MGM, 1944). This cartoon was the second Tom and Jerry cartoon to win an Academy Award; they would go on to win seven. This is a great hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Tom and Jerry from the short, Mouse Trouble. The short was directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera with an animation team of heavyweights that included Ray Patterson, Irv Spence, Pete Burness, and Ken Muse. The cartoon was released on 12/23/44 and again on 12/12/51. This is the image that was used in the theatrical one sheet poster! You can see Tom Cat in this key pose around the 2:52 mark into the short. The cels are trimmed to image and mounted on an MGM production background. Nice full-figure images of 9" and 3". The setup is in a frame of 22" x 19" under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 11" x 9". Cels from any of the 1940s Academy Award-winning shorts are considered very rare. Frame is sold as-is. This would be a fantastic addition to any animation art collection! Cels have a slight curl, and tiny glue mark on background. Good condition. From the Forbes Collection.
