Mother Goose Goes to Hollywood Hugh Herbert as Old King Cole Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1938) This Disney short, directed by Wilfred Jackson, was the last to have a Silly Symphony title card, even though it was the third to last film of the series. It parodies several Mother Goose nursery rhymes using caricatures of popular Hollywood film stars of the 1930s. Here, Hugh Herbert plays Old King Cole who gets excited when his fiddlers-three arrive (The Marx Brothers) It can be seen around the 1:48 minute mark. The overall image measures an impressive 7.25" x 5.5" in graphite with red pencilling on 12-field, 5 peg hole animation paper. The lower right corner of the page is numbered 7. The paper shows minor handling; otherwise Condition is Fine.
