Wes Parody Character Model Sheet (Disney, c. 1950s) Striking a variety of fabulous poses is Wes in this great Disney Studio parody model sheet featuring all the turnaround figures and mock-studio disclaimers to tie it all together. Crafted by the hand of a Disney animator around the 1950's, this parody design is likely inspired by Wes Herschensohn (1928-1985). Wes played a role in Walt Disney's art department in the mid to late 50's as an assistant animator and served an uncredited role in the films Lady and the Tramp (1955) and Sleeping Beauty (1959). After leaving the Disney studio Wes would go on to be a prolific layout artist for Filmation and Hanna-Barbera during his long career. The photo of Wes Herschensohn comes from his book "Resurrection in Cannes: The Making of The Picasso Summer". These charming renderings of Wes stand at a proud average of 2" inches tall for the full-boy figures and .75" for the collection of facial expressions, rendered with graphite on a 16 field sheet of animation paper.
