Description

The Reluctant Dragon and Sleeping Beauty Model Sheet Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1941-59). The Reluctant Dragon feature film came out in the middle of the Disney Animators strike of 1941. This is a rare first generation studio animators model sheet print of The Reluctant Dragon, printed on photographic paper. Disney's Character Model department distributed these animation model sheets to all who worked on the film for continuity. These are considered important documents to the Disney animation process and are highly collectible. This one is dated 5/16/40 and has a OK JG - Joe Grant. Matted with a mat opening of 13" x 10". There are nine images on the model sheet. The lot also includes a first generation model sheet print of Diablo, the Raven from Sleeping Beauty. The model sheet is oversized and has a fold in the middle. It has six images. It also is matted with a mat opening of 13" x 16". Two nice pieces of Disney animation history. Fine condition.

Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the results of the auction and I truly believe it was Jill’s efforts in promoting and displaying the piece that brought in the extra value.
