The Pointer Mickey Mouse Character Study/Model Drawings (Walt Disney, 1939). The Pointer was an animated short released in 1939. It was the first short to feature the new look that Mickey Mouse was given in the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment in Fantasia. Presented is a RARE character study for the new Mickey with pupils. The character study acts as a comprehensive guide to map out character traits and "proof of concept." Proof of Concept in animation is the first stage of any character study definition. It is called this because, as an animator, you must prove that the character can emote in a way that would make an audience care, empathize and relate. This extraordinary illustration was rendered in graphite over red pencil on 12 field 5-hole animation paper. The drawing exhibits mild age-related toning. Overall condition is Very Good.
