Description

The Aristocats Toulouse Character Study Drawing (Walt Disney, 1970). "Everybody! Everybody! Everybody wants to be a cat!" Offered here is an absolutely adorable character study drawing featuring Duchess's roly-poly orange kitten Toulouse from Disney's Aristocats. This 1970 feature's script actually began life as a two-part live-action episode for Disney's long-running anthology television series during the Wonderful World of Color era, but rewrites and a transition to animation left the project on hold until The Jungle Book was nearly complete; Aristocats would be the final film Walt personally approved before his passing in late 1966. This particular character study is attributed to Disney Legend and one of Walt's Nine Old Men Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008) who served as supervising animator for the kitten, and the piece was originally held in his personal collection giving it an additional layer of provenance. Slightly more rotund than his siblings, Toulouse is featured with delightful expressions rendered in graphite in one partial and two full-figured images which share a combined area of 11.75" x 6.5" on the 16 field animation sheet. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning and slight corner curling/creasing, overall this endearing study is in Very Good condition.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
