Description

Superman Studio Model Sheets Group of 2 (Max Fleischer, 1941). The Superman cartoons produced by Fleischer Studios and their successors, Famous Studios, were some of the most attractive theatrical cartoons of the early 1940s. They were released at a time when Superman was still a fresh character, not that long after his 1938 debut in Action Comics #1. Any and all production material relating to cartoons featuring the Man of Steel have long been sought-after. Here's an exciting find: a pair of studio-used model sheet prints dated 1941. The first concentrates on Superman head shots, with five sharp images on paper measuring 12" x 11.25". The second model sheet features Superman in action; while these are rough images blocked out to show composition, there are several that show the famous "S" shield on Superman's chest as he stands, lifts, flies and lands, and swings a punch. This one measures a whopping 18.75" x 13". Both have printed OK signatures by director Dave Fleischer. Condition is Good to Very Good with minor handling and edge wear, and some age-related toning; the smaller sheet also has a small dust shadow strip along the left side, well away from the images.
