Description
Superman and Other Studio Model Sheet Prints Group of 70+ (Fleischer/Famous Studios, c. 1930s-40s). Model sheets have traditionally been a very important part of the animation process. With multiple artists working on a cartoon, the model sheet helps keep the characters looking consistent throughout each project. Here is an exceptional collection of over 65 studio-used model sheet prints from the legendary Fleischer Studios, plus several model sheets from Fleischer's successor after Paramount took over, Famous Studios. Included are two from the studio's Superman series, with a great head shot sheet dated August 1941 and one with the gigantic ape from Terror on the Midway: eleven sheets from Popeye cartoons including one for Pilgrim Popeye, four featuring Bluto, and one each of Olive Oyl, Poopdeck Pappy, Wimpy, and Swee'Pea, also a sheet of the evil Wazzir from the Popeye color classic Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp; 31 sheets from Gulliver's Travels including character sheets for Sneak, Snoop and Stich, Twinkletoes, Gabby, and all major roles; 12 sheets from Mr. Bug Goes to Town; several from various Fleischer shorts including The Dandy Lion, Copy Cat, Mommy Loves Puppy, Zero the Hound, The Cobweb Hotel, Pedagogical Institution (College to You), The Raven, Two for the Zoo and others. Famous Studios is represented with sheets for Casper, Katnip, and several shorts like Cilly Goose, and non-regular characters from various Popeye cartoons. The sheets vary in size from 10" x 8" to 18.5" x 16". Two Gulliver's Travels sheets are in 19.75" x 16.75" mats. All sizes and totals are approximate. Sheets are mostly printed on photo paper. The average condition is Good with handling wear, edge wear, stains, fold creases, and age-related toning. From the Mike Glad Museum Collection.
