Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Published Original Seven Dwarf Model Sheet Pair with Studio Model Sheet Prints Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1937). "Hi-ho, hi-ho," it's scale that these charts show! Offered in this lot is an incredibly rare and historic pair of published original "Relative Proportions" hand-drawn model sheets with matching studio prints featuring all seven Dwarfs from Disney's 1937 seminal animated masterpiece, Snow White. These model sheets represent official documents which are integral to the Disney Animation process and used to help standardize the appearance, poses, and gestures of a character so that continuity is maintained from scene to scene. Model sheets are effectively a comprehensive guide map for the many artists who collaborate on an animated project. Snow White's Dwarfs underwent considerable character development between their first inception years before the film's release and these well-defined model sheets dated 1937. Labeled as Sheet #1, the first page features Doc, Happy, and Sneezy while Sheet #2 includes Sleepy, Bashful, Grumpy, and Dopey with both pages titled Supplementary Chart Showing Relative Proportions and stamped along the lower edge with Walt Disney Prod. LTD. The 5-peghole 12 field sheets are rendered in graphite and red pencil with a wealth of character defining notes for each Dwarf including their heights shown in three-head proportions; however, they all notably lack any facial features. Across both sheets, the Dwarfs range in size from 3.5" to 4.75". Accompanying the published original model sheets are a matching pair of studio printed copies on 12" x 10" photographic paper. These model sheets were also featured as the front and back endpaper images for the Taschen standard edition hardcover of The Walt Disney Film Archive. The hand-drawn original sheets exhibit fold creases, corner pinholes, small edge tears, and faint areas of staining; age-related toning and minor corner creasing is present in all 4 pieces. With typical studio handling and edge wear rare and historic collection is in Good to Very Good condition.Auction Info
