Description
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Grumpy, Sneezy, and Bashful Rough Character Development/Model Drawings by Fred Moore (Walt Disney, 1937). The animators of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs had to ensure that the seven dwarfs were unique, likeable, and consistent throughout the studio's first animated feature film. This was a massive undertaking and required a great deal of practice from the artists involved. That included character development drawings and model sheets like the trio in this lot! Rendered in graphite with color pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper, the drawings feature a full figure Grumpy with expression, a partial figure of Sneezy with two expressions, and a partial figure of Bashful with practice sketches of his nose. Each was created to practice bringing the dwarfs to life and keeping them on model. Bashful's drawing was created in preparation for his introduction to Snow White at about 36:30 while Grumpy appears in a similar pose to the one used in a few of the model sheets that we've seen. The drawings range from about 2.75'' x 2.25'' to 3.25'' x 5.75'' and are originally from the archive of one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008). With faint edge and handling wear, light age-related toning, and two additional pegholes on two drawings, they are in Very Good condition.From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
