Description

Silly Symphony Model Sheets Group of 12 (Walt Disney, c. 1930s). From Walt Disney's series of Silly Symphony shorts we offer a rare selection of model sheets from the 1930s. The model sheets are from the shorts; Ferdinand the Bull (noted on the sheets as The Story of Ferdinand), The Practical Pig, Elmer Elephant, Max Hare, The Return of Toby Tortoise, The Country Cousin, Little Hiawatha, Three Little Pigs, and Woodland Café. The model sheets are studio prints on 14" x 11", 15.5" x 12.5", 13" x 17", and 12" x 10" photographic paper. These model sheets were used by Paul Wenzel who created the theatrical one-sheet movie posters for the Motion Picture Advertising Department as a designer/illustrator. Wenzel famously painted the Walt Disney portrait used in 1966 for a 6-cent commemorative stamp issued to celebrate the life of Walt Disney after his death. The artwork is currently housed at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. These are production used studio documents and thus exhibit edge wear, a fold crease, crease tears, waviness, splits, curling, some torn corners, pinholes and staples in the corners, and smudges. Overall, condition is Fair to Good. Collectors of ephemera and other studio documents will not want to let this one get away!
From the Master Disney Artist/Art Director Mr. Paul Wenzel Archive.
