Description
Shazzan Model Cel (Hanna-Barbera, 1967). A rare model cel from Shazzan, Hanna-Barbera's 1967 animated series created by comic artist Alex Toth. The series is similar in its style and production details to the other Alex Toth-created cartoons of the late '60s, relying heavily on music and sound effects. The model cel in this lot was created from original artwork by Alex Toth. The model cel was hand-painted on 12 field acetate at Hanna-Barbera's Ink and Paint Department. Model cels or model sheets are required when multiple artists are involved in the production of an animated film or cartoon short in order to keep the character(s) from becoming "off-model." In animation, one animator may only do one shot out of the several hundred that are required to complete the film. Model cels/sheets are very rare and highly sought after by astute collectors.
