Description

Puss Gets the Boot Studio Model Sheet Print (MGM, 1939). On 2/10/40, the debut Tom and Jerry cartoon was released, under the direction of Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera. It was nine minutes long, making it the longest theatrical Tom and Jerry cartoon released. The characters in this first short were named "Jasper" and "Jinx." Sound effects and noises coming from the cat and mouse were done by Disney's Clarence Nash (voice of Donald Duck) and Bill Hanna himself. This is the original studio-printed model sheet for this historic Academy Award-nominated short, dated August 8, 1939, with 12 images of the characters and an overall size of 11.5" x 10". This model sheet was featured in Bill Hanna's autobiography, A Cast of Friends. This is a very rare historical animation document about one of the most successful cartoon franchises in filmmaking history. Fine condition.
