Pluto's Judgement Day Practice Model Sheet and Additional Pluto Practice Model Sheet by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney, 1935/c. 1930s). Fans of Pluto will have more of him than they know what to do with in this exceptional pair of practice model sheets! Sheets like these were used by animators to practice the character's movement, poses, and expressions in a certain scene as well as practice keeping them consistent and on model. They were often created while referencing the official model sheets that were passed around the studio and each here is spectacular with five full figure poses, nine expressions, and two additional poses. Like printed model sheets and original model sheets, practice model sheets are just as rare and sought after by fans - this pair is made even more special because they are by the hand of Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993), a longtime in-between, comic, and publicity artist. Both are rendered in graphite on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper and the page with the full figure poses was created for the scene starting at about 1:49 in the 1935 David Hand-directed short Pluto's Judgement Day as he angrily turns himself in circles for a good nights sleep. The expression sheet was created for the 1936 short Mother Pluto and you can find the great expressions at about 8:03 and 5:30 as Pluto spends time with his newly adopted chicks. The poses range from about 11.5'' x 7.5'' and 7.5'' x 9'' combined and take up the majority of their respective pages. Fair condition overall with age-related toning, some faint folds and brittle paper as expected from age and use, minor staining, and light handling.From the Disney Legend Inductee Manuel Gonzales Archive.
