Description

Playful Pan Character Study Drawing (Walt Disney, 1930). Dancing along as he plays a cheerful tune, presented here is the titular mischievous Greek God Pan from the early Silly Symphony Playful Pan. This Burt Gillett-directed film debuted on December 27, 1930, and saw the mythological creature turn from entertainer to savior when a lightning strike starts a forest fire. Uniquely depicted with a double flute rather than his traditional panpipes, Pan can be spotted fading in to the first scene near the 0:23 timestamp when viewed online. The character study features 6 full-figured images plus 1 headshot, all rendered in graphite to a combined image area of 9.25" x 4.5" on the sheet of 12 field 2-peghole animation paper which also notes the partial date of Dec 5 and 12 as well as the short's title below the image area. To-date Heritage has only seen painted backgrounds from this feature, so don't miss out on this rare offering which includes characters for the first time. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, pinholes, edge tearing with some paper loss, and a faint vertical fold through the center, overall this rare character study is in Good condition.
