Pinocchio/Fantasia Model Sheet Group of 11 (Walt Disney, 1940). Here is a collection of vintage model sheets from two of Disney Studios' greatest theatrical features, Pinocchio and Fantasia. There are three models from Pinocchio. One is titled "Pinocchio and Cricket Costume Follow Thru" and it includes six images each of the two characters with very detailed notes regarding their costumes. Included are two more models, one of Pinocchio and the other of donkeys. There are eight model sheets from Fantasia; they include two Centaurettes models (one of which has an image that has been hand-colored in gouache), a Pegasus model, and a Ballerina Goldfish model. Finally, three different Hippo models with an Elephant and Ostrich Model from "Dance of the Hours." Both are by character designer Joe Grant who started the Disney Character Model Department. Virtually all studio model sheets that came out under his time bear the familiar "OK JG" on them, just as all but one of these do. They are printed on photographic paper and range in size from 11" x 14" to 12.5" x 16". These were actually used and passed amongst animators, so they show handling wear, folds and creases. Condition is Very Good. From the Vic Haboush Archives.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
