Description
Peter Pan Captain Hook Practice Model Sheet (Walt Disney, 1953). Included in this lot is a fantastic 16 field 3-peghole practice model sheet of Captain Hook from Peter Pan! Hook was famously voiced by Hans Conried and his animation was directed by Disney Legend and one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Frank Thomas (1912 - 2004). Other key animators included Disney Legend Woolie Reitherman, who supervised the action sequences with the character. There are four poses and one additional expression on the page, all rendered in color pencil, and Hook's mustache is notably missing. Captain Hook was supposed to be villainous but was fashionable and likeable enough to be kept alive at the end of the film. The drawings in this lot illustrate both his plotting personality and his styled and expensive clothes and hair. Each of these drawings would have been created by an animator to help keep the classic villain consistent and on model and to practice for a certain scene. The poses could then be referenced in addition to the model sheets prints that were passed around the studio. The drawings on this page are similar to those in the scene near 48:36 when the captain screws his gold hook in, preparing for his fateful talk with Tinker Bell to convince her to share the location of Peter Pan's hideout. The poses range about 14.5'' x 11.5'' combined and are in Good condition with light edge and handling wear, some minor tears and debris, faint toning from age, and pinholes from production use.Auction Info
