Description
Katnip the Cat Model Sheet Original Art by Dave Tendlar (Famous Studios, c. 1950). Famous Studios' cat and mouse team Herman and Katnip starred in a series of theatrical cartoons that were very funny, but were so violent that they are rarely shown on television today. Needless to say, there never would have been "Itchy and Scratchy" on The Simpsons without Herman and Katnip! Here's an early sheet of original model drawings of Katnip by Dave Tendlar (1909 - 1993) who began with Fleischer Studios in 1931; he later animated for several other studios including Filmation and Hanna-Barbera. The art is in graphite on lightweight board measuring 14.25" x 10.5". The drawing in the top left lifts up to reveal an inked version. A taped-on cover sheet includes Mr. Tendlar's name in the lower right. Art condition is Good with minor handling wear, light staining, and paper toning.More information about Famous Studios Artist.
