Jonny Quest Model Sheet Drawing by Doug Wildey (Hanna-Barbera, 1964). Offered in this lot is an magnificent original model sheet drawing of Jonny Quest, star of the thrilling self-titled Hanna-Barbera TV series. Crafted by the renowned comic book artist Doug Wildey (1922 - 1994) and creator of Jonny, this model sheet is titled "Head Models #1" and features 12 portraits of the character as seen from different angles. Departing from the more cartoony style of previous Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Jonny Quest employed character designs more akin to those of comics of the era, and storylines inspired by action/adventure radio programs of the 40's. This drawing is rendered in graphite on 12-field animation paper and showcases Wildey's signature style. It is signed by the artist and dated 8/12/64. Additionally, this rare item shows a Hanna-Barbera production stamp near the bottom edge and shows an OK by JB, Joe Barbera! Model sheets are created as reference materials for animators to insure character consistency. The original art is photographed and reproduced in unknown quantities. While there may be several of the prints in circulation, there is only one original. This is one of those one-of-a-kind originals. A small stain can be seen on one of the images of the back of Jonny's head. In Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
