Description

Fantasia "The Pastoral Symphony" Centaurette Original Model Sheet (Walt Disney, 1940). Presented here is an original 14.75'' x 12'' original animator's model sheet of two centaurettes created for practice and reference for one of the scenes in the beautifully animated Greco-Roman mythology-inspired segment of Fantasia "The Pastoral Symphony". There are two near full figure rough poses rendered in color pencil and ink that look like they're about to strut right off of the page and are more cleaned up versions of their models for sequence 4.2, likely created for when the centaurettes present themselves to the centaurs to find their perfect match. Each of these model sheets would have been created in Joe Grant's Character Model Department and were later printed in small quantities on photographic paper to pass around the studio. All are considered very collectible, especially original one-of-a-kind model sheets like this. And, luckily for collectors, this version has been initialed by Joe Grant in the upper left! The practice model sheet also includes two studio stamps in addition to a hand-written note for the artist to create simple poses that lend to perspective. The sheet is numbered three and is stapled at the top edge to a board.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
