Description

Fantasia Centaurette Animator Practice Model Sheet by Preston Blair (Walt Disney, 1940). Here's a superb rarity, an original practice model sheet of three different Centaurettes, those lovely half-human, half-horse females that are featured in the "Pastoral Symphony" section of Disney's magnificent musical opus Fantasia. The artist best remembered today for his "forever in print" instructional book on animation, and on "Red Hot," the sexy star of several Tex Avery cartoons for MGM, Preston Blair (1908 - 1995), was a Disney animator from 1936 until 1942, working on such films as Pinocchio, Dumbo and Bambi, plus various shorts starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Pluto. This beautiful 16 field animation page, at one time part of the collection or Disney designer Al Parke, features six individual studies of the Centaurettes, all drawn in graphite. The overall image area measures approximately 12.5" x 10". Condition is Very Good, with some age-related paper toning (some from an old framing) and minor handling wear.
