Description
Duck Practice Model Sheet (c. 1930s). Included in this lot is a rare 12 field 2-peghole practice model sheet created by an animator for an unknown short! The character would have been created in the 1930s and might be from a Disney animated short or a short from another studio like Walter Lantz. It was likely created for an unmade short that never made it to the big screen and a rare drawing of the character with a cigar. The model sheet was made to help the animator keep the character consistent and helped to explore the duck from various angles, often made while referencing an early or official model sheet. They were sometimes used to more generally keep the character on model and other times used to practice specific scenes or sequences from the short before creating the rough animation drawings. This sheet was used for the latter. There is one full figure and one near full figure pose on the page and four expressions of the duck, as well as a few details that are distinct to the character. Each pose is rendered in graphite with color pencil and they measure approximately 11.25'' x 8.5'' combined.
