Don Quixote and Mickey's Pigmies Character Studies by Ferdinand Horvath Group (Disney, 1937) Ferdinand Horvath was a Hungarian-born artist (1891-1973) who worked at Disney from 1933-1937. He was a sketch artist, idea man, and model creator. The first item offered here is a character study on 12-field, 2-peghole animation paper for the never-produced Disney project Don Quixote. Graphite with gouache, amazing detail. A Mickey Mouse-type character is coming out of the foot in one of the sketches. Signed JW at the bottom. Two pieces of animation paper cut out and mounted to the main page. Minor handling, pinholes in corner. The second piece of artwork is a native. This may be from the unmade short Mickey's Pigmies or perhaps Mickey's Man Friday. Signed at bottom. Fine.
