Description

Cannibal Capers Model/Character Concept Drawing (Disney, 1930). "Plenty of laughs to this animated cartoon of the Walt Disney Silly Symphony series". This was part of the review by Billboard Magazine when this short was released in March of 1930. This theatrical short directed by Burt Gillett begins with a tribe of happy-go-lucky cannibals performing a tribal dance, until interrupted by a ferocious lion. Offered in this lot is an early character model/concept drawing featuring approximately 15 poses and expressions of the cannibal characters. It is rendered in graphite on 12 field animation paper. It's a remarkable piece or original work used in the beginning stages of this early Silly Symphony short. The art is framed under glass with a frame that measures 19" x 16.5" with a mat opening of 11.5" x 9.5". A brass plate on the mat reads incorrectly that the drawing is from "Africa Before Dark - Ub Iwerks, Disney Studios 1928." All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Minor handling and age toning. Condition is Very Good.
