Description

Boat Builders RARE Mickey Mouse Three Pose Model Sheet (Walt Disney, 1938). Mickey looks ready to build a boat in this rare and incredible 12 field 5-peghole model sheet. The 1938 short was directed by Ben Sharpsteen (1895 - 1980) and follows Mickey, Donald, and Goofy as they try to assemble the boat kit that the mouse purchased. This was the third of five Mickey boat shorts. He appears in three different full figure poses on this sheet, dressed for a day of work in his overalls. This was the third cartoon to have Mickey appear in overalls and the second to make them red. He has a wide smile and carries a hammer in the middle pose. An animator would have used this sheet to practice drawing the character and as reference to maintain consistency throughout the short. It is rendered in graphite and some areas are shaded to show contrast. The poses on the sheet measure about 4'' x 4'', 3.5'' x 4'', and 4'' x 3.5''. The animation paper is displayed on thin artboard with some age-related toning. There is handling wear including superficial wrinkles, creases, a small area of glue residue, and stray mark. Good condition overall for this Mickey amazing sheet.
