Description

100 Pygmies and Andy Panda African Native Model Sheet Original Art with 2 Studio-Used Prints Group of 3 (Walter Lantz, 1940). American cartoons from the early days of film were unfortunately often filled with images and caricatures that would be considered offensive today, but are undeniable aspects of our history. Here's what we are talking about, in an original hand-drawn model sheet of wildly stereotyped African natives from the second Andy Panda theatrical short, which has long been banned from television showings. Regardless of content, this is rare artwork from the Golden Age of Animation. The drawings are in graphite over light brown color pencil on a sheet of 12.5" x 10.5" paper. The first native has an overall image size of 4" x 5". With the art are two 8.5" x 11" studio-used model sheets printed on photo paper; one has added paint to the top three characters, to act as a color model. Condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
