Description
Lady and the Tramp Si and Am Trio of Model Drawings and Layout Drawing Group of 5 by Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (Walt Disney, 1955). Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998) was responsible for setting up many of the memorable scenes we know and love from Disney films and shorts, including Si and Am's chase around Lady's home. This lot is a rare look at how the master artist worked with three model drawings of the troublemaking Siamese cats and five layout drawings, all by O'Connor's hand. The graphite and color pencil model drawings explore the cats in full figure with varying styles, all on 12 field animation paper. Four of the layouts are on 16 field paper and another on 12 field paper with a piece trimmed and attached. These layouts were created in preparation for the chase sequence that starts at about 33:32 as the Si and Am try to hurt the Jim Dear and Darling's bird and fish, and create a huge mess that will be pinned on Lady when she tries to stop them. The transitions from scene to scene in an animated film are supposed to be as seamless as possible and O'Connor's layouts would have been invaluable when keeping track of the layout of each room in the house and where the characters would be moving throughout.
