DescriptionMike Ploog The Black Cauldron Multi-Character Pan Concept Drawing (Walt Disney, 1985). Marvel Comics artist Mike Ploog illustrated this amazing interior view of the Horned King's castle, in a graphite and conté crayon on paper pan drawing. Wow! In this detail-rich drawing, we see the Horned King on his throne, as the goblin Creeper points to Taran and the pig with oracular powers, Hen Wen. Seated all around are the King's henchmen. Minnesota-born Mike Ploog began his career at Filmation, where he worked as cleanup artist on Batman and Superman cartoons. He then moved on to Hanna-Barbera before working with comics legend Will Eisner. He then made his mark at Marvel on titles like Werewolf By Night, The Monster of Frankenstein, Man-Thing, and Ghost Rider. He also has illustrated cards for Magic: The Gathering. This Black Cauldron drawing has an image area of approximately 30" x 10.5" on lightweight pan animation paper. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
